Why are laundromats closed on Sundays?
Baden-Württemberg’s Sunday and Public Holidays Act (Sonn- und Feiertagsgesetz) protects Sundays and public holidays as days of rest. For self-service laundromats that means the door stays shut on those days. That’s also why other laundromats in the region are usually closed on Sundays too.

Which public holidays are you closed?
On all public holidays in Baden-Württemberg, for example New Year’s Day, Epiphany (6 January), Good Friday, Easter Monday, 1 May, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Corpus Christi, German Unity Day (3 October), All Saints’ Day (1 November) and both Christmas holidays (25 and 26 December). Our live display knows these days and always shows you whether a laundromat is open right now.
Weekend tips
- Make use of Saturday evening: most of our laundromats let you wash until 11 pm. Including drying, start your last wash about an hour before closing.
- Go early on Saturday: doors open at 6 am, and early in the morning you have your pick of the machines.
- Plan ahead for holidays: before long weekends such as Easter or Whitsun, better wash on the Saturday or during the week.
